Ethical Value of Doctors and Nurses in Hospital on Medical Practice

Abstract
The aim of this study was to search level of ethical value of doctors and nurses on medical practice by guestionnaire given from 83 doctors and 191 nurses working in 1 university hospital located in kyungju city from Mar. 14 through Apr. 04. 2002.
The results of this study were as follows ;
No difference has been existed in ethical view of value between the medical doctors and nurses but both have had higher ethical view of value. llighest point was shown in the relation of cooperator among 4 areas followed by the relation between the medical personnels and the patients and human life. there has been the difference in ethical view of value between the medical doctors and nurses on medical practices as the lowest level(p<0.05).
Ethical value on special qualities has showed difference according to age, career and educational background and the career the higher the ethical view of value while the persons married, have religion, assigned to obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics and have higher positions also have showed the higher ethical value.
Ethical value of doctors on attitude showed difference in ethical standard and the degree of understanding of the chart of rights of the patients while nurses showed difference in their attitude. In the area of human life medical doctors and nurses have showed no differences in ethical value, and they thought it right for medical development to maintain life of the patients in the terminal stage for the study purpose, and they valued the dignity of life and maintaining it most of all while they should do their best for the patients who have no hope of life. medical doctors and nurses have showed that they have troubles with the self-determination and valuing life of the patients when they demand the easy death knowing that they have no hope of life. In the relation between the medical personnels and patient both the medical doctors and nurses knew that "they should keep the secret known to them during their duties" in highest level.
The highest level of ethical value in medical duties for was that "they should help rapidly running the person who fell on the road", and in the relation as cooperator highest point was that "they should advise immediately when fellow medical personnels do not keep the surgery during the acts of medical measure" and question which showed difference between the medical doctors and nurses was that "they do pretend not to have known when they find the mistake of the fellow medical personnels during their duties(P<0.01).
